The Siberian Tiger, not only the largest of all the subspecies of tigers, but the largest of cats, roams mainly in the range of Eastern Russia. Although some Siberian Tigers are in Northeast China, and North Korea.

A vanishing site in the wild!

Siberians are, unfortunately, one of the smallest in population of the subspecies with a reported 200 to 400 left to roam freely. When you compare that to the population of the Siberian Tiger in 1985, the population has dropped over 50%. It is said that the fall of the USSR in turn made the wilds in which the Siberian roamed, open to poachers, and open to the evolution of man, which greatly reduced the natural habitat in which the Siberian Tiger was pretty comfortable for so long.

The Siberian Tiger can eat up to 60 pounds of meat at one time, and can go for long periods of time without having to eat again.

Siberian Tigers have the palest markings of all tiger subspecies, due to the habitat, which also gives the Siberian a very white belly, and chest. The Stripes on a Siberian are spaced further apart, and they have fewer stripes on the shoulders, and forelegs. Siberians also have longer fur and more fat on them than any other subspecies, which aids them during the brutal winters of their habitat.

Like most of the subspecies, the Siberian has the marking on it head which is said to be the mark of the Chinese Wang or King.

The markings of the tigers are said to be for camouflage, which makes sense when you read just how the subspecies differ in markings in comparison to their habitat.
