The Residential Program Center

The Residential Program Center offers a hopeful beginning where individuals learn that they are valuable and capable individuals. The RPC helps people see themselves anew as they learn the skills to become more self-sufficient; and the keys to relate to their world in a more successful way.

Established in June 1994, The Residential Program Center offers vital services and programs to homeless individuals and to those who have substance addictions. By providing support and intervention, RPC enables people to reach the goal of living independently.

Formerly known as the Arlington Men's Shelter, The Center has expanded services to serve women as well as individuals with substance abuse issues. To be admitted to the programs, a person must be an adult (18 years or older) whose place of residence is Arlington County. The RPC is the only emergency shelter in Arlington providing assistance with job training and substance abuse.

The Residential Program Center is operated under a contract with the Arlington County Government by Volunteers of America, Chesapeake. The staff works closely with Arlington County officials and various community members to ensure that the best possible services are provided to the residents and that the Center maintains a good relationship with its neighbors.
