Mom brought each of us to the window to watch the hurricane, so that we knew why we didn't have any lights for over 3 1/2 days. On our little street of 20 homes, 2 were damaged by fallen trees. Three days later, only half the street had power. We had a 3000 watt generator to run the refrigerator and lights. The paper says refrigerators need 400-1000 watts. | |||
Generators must be put outside or in well ventilated areas. Several people burned their homes using generators in the garage where the gas and other flammables were stored.
