Wenshu Monastery/Temple dates back to the
Tang dynasty (618-907 AD). |
This is the base for Chengdu's Chan (Zen)
Buddhist Sect. |
|
|
Its name, meaning "hollow wood", comes from
the name of a famous monk who lived here in the 1600s, who in turn was
named after the Buddhist god of supreme wisdom (Hindu Manjusri). |
The gentle rain falling on the day we visited
it gave a feeling of peace to the temple. |
