Kachina Designs in Hopi Basketry

Figures of a Kachina Mother(left) and Mudhead Kachina (right) in Hopi coil plaques. Various other kachinas also are represented in Hopi basket designs. Coiled baskets and plaques are a specialty of women of Second Mesa, while plaited  wicker baskets are associated with Third Mesa.  (Kachina Mother plaque, 10 inches in diameter, made by Beatrice Tewawina.
