White to pinkish-grey.

Granular -- fine-grained to aphanitic.

Composition: 
Orthoclase appears in greater quantities than plagioclase and there is no quartz. The small amounts of hornblende, mica, augite and magnetite that are present can only be seen in thin sections with the aid of a microscope.

Field associations: 
This is an uncommon rock, associated with syenite masses.

 

 

Worldwide, but particularly in the Alps, Germany, Norway, Azores, Africa, Russia, USA (New England, Arkansas, Montana and lesser amoutns in otehr states).
