Sophia was born in Portsmouth, England in 1967. She lived in Germany
for the first four years of her life before moving back to England with her family. Most
of her childhood was spent in the Northeast of England in Morpeth, Northumberland.
Sophia
graduated with a Bachelors degree in Ecology from University College London. She has since
worked in Australia as a field ecologist, taught English in the Northeast of Thailand,
learned Thai, completed a Master's degree in Environment and Development at the University
of Cambridge, researched trade and environment issues in Thailand for the Thailand
Environment Institute, studied the diffusion of integrated farming techniques in Buriram
and Sakol Nakhon in Thailand, and worked for a law firm in their environmental practice
group. She recently worked as the environmental manager of a power development company in
Thailand, and is now working (mostly) full-time to develop NESSThai, with some freelance
consulting. Sophia is interested in the links between our experiences of our environment
and our culture, environmental education, and encouraging participation and shared
responsibility in the study and management of the environment.
Sophia
is fluent in Thai and has a reasonable understanding of the Lao language.
Sophia
is the Director of Programmes and one of the founders of NESSThai. |
