Wolf Project Award

We are a diverse group of Canadian volunteers, from all walks of life, that cherish a vision of racial peace and harmony. We are working toward this vision through our organization which we call The Wolf Project.

Through this Project we provide our Wolf Statue to be awarded to those whom have given the world a notable example of how we can work toward greater harmony between cultures.

We have chosen the symbol of the Wolf because:

Like many cultural groups the Wolf has suffered tremendous persecution. In the past, Wolf extermination was a way of life in North America.

However, we are now beginning to learn of the important contribution this magnificent animal makes to the delicate ecology of our land. We are learning to appreciate it's beauty as demonstrated by the growing abundance of art forms and media presentations that celebrate the Wolf.

The Wolf is a powerful symbol. It is transcending persecution based on ignorance.

When a Wolf howls, it is heard for many miles. Other Wolves that hear this join in the chorus.

Our Wolf statue has its head thrown back as if howling. It is bestowing honour by announcing that an important event has occurred. This is an invitation for others to join in.

The Wolf Project has honoured several communities and individuals. You may find it interesting to know that when a delegation of Manitoba Chiefs went to visit South Africa, they took a Wolf for President Nelson Mandela.

Each Wolf is named after a star or other celestial body. The name for your Wolf was given after great consideration. The name chosen is Altair. Altair can be seen in the summer sky. It is a star found within Aquila - the Eagle constellation. Altair is the heart of the Eagle.
