For the Pacific Northwest it was
THE MOUNTAIN MAN!
Hardship and adventure galore!
The needs of the Mountain Man were simple, and basic. One of them was, of course, shelter. The most common shelter in the Pacific Northwest was made of that region's most abundant building material, trees! The log cabin was a simple structure and easy to construct with just simple tools. These days it can be as elegant as a country manor, but the construction techniques remain the same as they were in the days of the early mountain men. Directions for a modern cabin that remembers the old ways is detailed and illustrated on my cabin pages.
