Welcome to Southern California! My cat Chiva and I live in Los Angeles, where I work as a humanities and music cataloger in the UCLA Young Research Library Cataloging Center and public service librarian in the UCLA Music Library. Check out the public art at UCLA, an aspect of life on campus that I appreciate very much. Before moving to California I did a variety of things in a variety of places, among them working at the University of Oklahoma (Norman, OK, a suburb of Oklahoma City), studying at the University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA) and Baylor University (Waco, TX), having a grand time in Freiburg, Germany, and growing up (sort of) in San Angelo, TX. Since moving to California, I've lived in Santa Monica; San Juan Capistrano in south Orange County (halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego); rural El Cariso Village on Ortega Highway (CA State Hwy 74); Lake Elsinore, abutting the Cleveland National Forest and Santa Ana Mountains, where El Cariso Village is nestled (for an idea of what the area looks like, this description of hiking the San Juan Loop will do (except for the part about a "rather monotonous landscape"--not!)); and, having gone full circle, Los Angeles again, near Culver City.
