2003 SUMMER CAMP UPDATE Summer Camp 2002 is still months away but it is time to start our annual SUMMER CAMP UPDATE for 2003. As with this year we will have to start our summer camp planning very early. Those who were with the Troop Last year will recall that we had GREAT weeks at Camp Raymond up in Northern Arizona and at Treasure Island. After a long search the camping committee has located a camp we believe will be a great summer program for our Scouts in 2003.
OVERVIEW: WHAT: Seven days of Scouting fun.WHEN : Troop 30 will reserve a session in mid to late July, 2003 We are waiting for the camp to confirm session dates. They have three with week 1 starting in mid July.WHERE : Camp Maluhia on the island of Maui, ( Maui County Council B.S.A.) the camp is about 15 minute drive North west of the Maui airport. For a brief look at the camp visit their web site : Maui County Council, BSA. WHO: Any registered Troop 30 Scout with an interest in camping, hiking, swimming, sailing, canoeing, rowing, forestry, nature, Indian lore, fish & wildlife, leatherwork, etc......COST: full week at Camp is $175.00 (camp fee) + Trip Cost. We are already working on air line tickets to attempt and get the best possible price.LEADERS : The Troop Committee will provide at least ten adults in camp with the boys at all times. (in past years we average 18 adults in camp) As with all Troop activities parents are welcome to sign up and come to camp. In addition to our adults the camp provides a well-trained full time staff.
SUMMER CAMP II: Troop 30 will also sponsor a second Summer Camp in early June of 2003. We will second a Great week at Camp Raymond in Northern Arizona. This Camp will be open to all Scouts and recommended for first year Summer Campers. Yes a scout can attend both.
