Friends of Nylsvley is a voluntary organisation dedicated to the conservation and preservation of the Nyl River Floodplain, in South Africa's Northern Province. This unique area is a RAMSAR Wetland of International Importance and has been identified by BirdLife South Africa as an Important Bird Area (IBA). Nylsvlei is partially protected in the Nyslvley Nature Reserve and is South Africa's largest ephemeral floodplain. The floodplain is surrounded by savannah woodland and grassland habitats which together with the floodplain provide habitat for a great variety of wildlife.
This Website describes the activities of Friends of Nylsvley and Nyl Floodplain, and provides a range of information on the area, including maps, photos, and links to other information on wetlands and wildlife conservation in general.
