I am building a new forepart. Eventually I will have another gown, as well, but this one will also go with my red velvet. I'm not working off of any one inspiration this time, just my own imagination and studies of the time period. First is the fabric....
Next is what I'm doing to the fabric. Putting a tiny pearl bead (2.5 mm) at each intersection. I am using so-called "invisible" thread and beading needles. I think I will be blind by the time I finish this part, but I will be beautiful, so it will be worth it. The die in the pic is a standard size game dice, like from Monopoly or whatnot. So you can see how teeny the pearls are. The piece of fabric is a trapezoid, 12 inches across the top, 36 across the bottom and about 40 down each side.
