There is a bad part of American history, the Salem Witch Trials, that I would like to say something about. People try to forget about it, like they try to forget about the Holocaust, and it is temporarily easy...After all, it was so long ago, and stuff like that doesn't happen any more. Does it? Unfortunately, it does. Yes, the tragedies of Salem were caused by hysteria and stupidity. Yes, only 16 people were executed...ONLY...I hate that word. Chances are good that all the people killed were Christian and simply being picked on for their non-conformist attitudes. The people that confessed were freed, those that refused to confess were killed. An infant died in prison with its mother. One man was pressed to death by heavy stones over a 2 day period, the others were hanged, including a preacher and many other good people. Please, visit this site, but it is NOT for the faint-hearted. It is interactive and quite frightening.
