Bearded Iris

Family: Iridaceae
Plant/bulb type: Rhizome
Planting time: Summer to Autumn
Height:

Depth & spacing: Plant with the crown just at or above soil level (the point where the green growth starts). Plant Talls 40cm apart, Dwarfs & Rocks 30cm apart. The closer you plant Bearded Iris, the sooner they will need to be divided.
Aspect: Full sun.
Soil: Fertile and well drained. A rich soil is ideal. pH should be neutral.
Watering: Start watering when growth appears and keep soil slightly moist until foliage dies off after flowering.
Fertilising: Top dress with a complete fertiliser (eg: Blood & Bone) in early Spring each year
Flowering time: Mid to late Spring.
After flowering care: These plants require very little care. However, if you like neatness, you can cut the foliage back to about 10cm tall.
Comments:
Very hardy plants. Most worthwhile in the garden because, with very little care they'll provide you with many flowers each year.
