Plant type: Deciduous rhizome
Planting time: Winter to early Spring.
Size: Dwarf: to 120cm tall x 20-30cm wide.
Tall varieties: (eg: Tropicana) to 1.2-2m tall & 30-40cm or more wide.
Planting depth & Spacing: Plant just below the soil surface with the roots facing down & the growing point facing upwards. Space dwarf varieties 20-30cm & tall ones 30-40cm apart.
Aspect: Full sun.
Soil: Moist soils. Will thrive even in swampy conditions
Watering: Keep well watered whilst actively growing. Once established, however, Cannas are pretty drought hardy.
Fertilising: General purpose fertiliser.
Flowering time: Summer
Climates: Tolerant of all climatic conditions except those of the arid inland.
