Planting time: Anytime but ideally Winter whilst the plant is dormant.
Size: 30 x 30cm
Spacing: 30cm apart
Aspect: Shade to part light. In very cold climates Hostas will tolerate full sun but the leaves will often scorch.
Soil: Rich & moist. Hostas love a soil which is high in organic matter so work in some leaf mould, compost or well rotted animal manure each Winter.
Watering: Keep well watered whilst the plants are actively growing.
Fertilising: A complete fertiliser should be applied at least annually in Spring.
Flowering time: Summer.
Pruning required: None required other than a tidy up as the plant goes dormant each Winte.
Climatic Tolerances: Cool to sub-tropical.
