Steven Hearns, Saulteux/Ojibway

"The majority of my artwork involves birds, birds are the teachers. As a boy I had been told that as you walked through the forest the birds spoke to you. This was how you learned. As a child, the freedom of flight and the beauty of its movement were inspiration. When I became an adult I realized that my thoughts were wings and my movement was creation."

Featured in a guest gallery at the Hearn's site linked above are some pieces from Robert Henry that are quite lovely like the one on the right entitled "Way of Our People."  Henry can be reached through E-mail at the site.
Bessie Henry  This Navajo artist crafts exquisite necklaces combining stones, shells, and silver.  She places bears in her work, traditional protective spirits, especially for journeys.  Combining each necklace with matching earrings, her pieces are available to order through the Migrations website.  They would make a great affordable gift for someone.

Jesse Hummingbird This award-winning Cherokee artist is well known for his  mixed-media masks, a contemporary version of the traditional masks hung in Cherokee homes for power and protection of the spirits.
