Well, dogs happen to be one of my favorite animals. I think they are really
great pets, and I love the way they have for expressing their feelings...
One day, one of my friends at school told me her labrador had just had puppies
and I begged my parents to let me have one. I finally could convince them
and we went to check out the babies to see which one would belong to us.
My parents prefered a male one. My friend told me there was a male that had no
owner yet, chocolate coloured and green eyes. We liked the idea, but, unfortuantely,
the little dog was born without breastbone and died a few days later. I was really
sad about that, but then my friend offered us another chocolate coloured dog,
with green eyes also. The only difference was that it was female. That seemed
more difficult for us because we thought on the possibility that she had puppies
too some day such... But we heard somewhere that female dogs were more calm
and caressing than male ones, and finally decided to keep the female one. We visited
my friend one day, just to see what the dog looked like, and my dad and I really
liked her, she looked so cute... however, I started playing with her,
somehow I made her mad, and she bit my finger real hard, of course I thought she was
playing...
When we went to pick her up and take her home, she was hidden behind some
plants, whatever she was doing, we don't know, but we could notice that even
though she was small, she was kind of independent, unlike the two other puppies
that were playing together. I remember them very well... a black male, Sanson,
and a yellow female, Camila. (more than half of the litter had already died)
I still hadn't got a single glimpse of the dog that was supposed to be mine.
Finally, she came out of the shrubs and plants, carrying a plant in her mouth
and chewing it happily. She ignored us, and walked straight to her food plate;
the dog food was difficult for the puppies to chew, but we were amazed at how
easily the chocolate dog seemed to be munching it. She looked really nice.
When it was time to go, I picked her up and carried her in my arms to the car.
The dog's mother seemed to know I was taking her baby away because she was whining
and pacing to and fro restlessly. It was sad to know she would probably never see
her puppy again...
