Cafe Fascism

Oh you’re a rebel,
your haircut proves it
and your friends love
your careful cafe politics
and revolutionary chic

how radical your clothes are
and your brand of cigarettes
your way of dress and speaking
could trigger great events
to be remembered

you’re a fashion fascist, a narrow-minded nabob of nihilism, postmodern style, first among your unequals black a favourite colour in clothing that is, not the flag of anarchy or the pigmented people, proud they’re not you, comfortable and relaxed your mind untormented, searches for a remark fit for a rebel, without a cause, thats too uncool for someone like you all those who really care they’re just not in style, its not hip to criticise without coffee in hand, fingers firmly crossed
so go on critiquing
the latest band you hate,
writer who's a fake
and while you're wanking
I'll put my uncool shoulder to the wheel
