Conscious Comparisons

Smooth, playful cetaceans
capture our imaginations
No opposable digits needed
for our aquatic cousins
they took a different path of evolution

Have some of our pollution friends
Do they have
computers?
Do they have poverty?
We are supposedly superior,
all others merely inferior

We have our Hitlers
they just have their fins

They are mostly happy and playful
millions of us wake feeling awful
I’m stuck in deadly traffic
they’re stuck in the sea

Are we so good, so smart
if we’re best at crushing hearts?
