Bitterness

Bitterness is
   a bitter pill
to swallow, regurgitated anger
can't sit silent in a stomach,
where acidity is vacant

the tart torment of lemons left uneaten
is reserved for bigger people,
with smaller hearts and greater
     venality and indignation

disgust lies in wait for them

A short lived shrug of the soul
is my heavy punishment,
bitterness unseen, unheard, unknown to me,
vengeance sticks in my throat
still born, its bare bones choke,
cannot be digested, taking too long
to navigate their malignant way

hatred is hard to do well,
I'v found the steady flame of anger
won't cook the casserole of carping,
won't reheat a meal of malice

I'm through with bitterness.
