Democracy, Elliot style

We wouldn’t want democracy
would we John?
the government must govern
like puppets,
their fiscal strings pulled by fiscal strain

and whose government would it be John?
of course your interests are not minority
- there should be a law against it
one vote, one value, recallable delegates
all this would make you choke
on your five course
ode to the common man.

Funny that, I don’t see them so eager
to interview the long-time crook
just out of jail. He’s got political views,
so why not ask him; he’s as honest?
He’ll tell you about capital creation,
downsizing and mob rule,
he’ll give you the oil on democracy
determined by a quiet word in the ear
and a sawn-off in the pocket.
