This is a belated present
on your turning twenty three
(at least your not as old as me!)

They say its the thought that counts
Well you know I'm a cheap mongrel
so all I give you is this doggerel

Your sometimes manic and sometimes you panic
but you always seem to be friendly to me
shit, you even read my crappy poetry!

You've been my friend, set me an example
of how to be brighter and how to be bold,
how to be stupid and not do what I'm told

lately you have had me worried
fretting that you've not done enough
even though your made of the right stuff

you might get grumpy, even thump me
but I'll always be your friend
sending you round the bend

You can tell me your woes
I'll lend an ear, share a tear
