It's a (big)small world after all!

The earth is a global village
   its small
      getting smaller everyday!

I have crossed an ocean only once
it took more than a day
we stopped in Bombay,
but I saw nothing
except aeroplane's insides
nothing of the people
no meeting of different minds
yet I had travelled several thousand miles

I talk to people far away
   this happens all the time
we type each other deaf,
hug each other breathless
give knowing winks
smile at stupid antics
we talk of tomorrow
   you mean today?

But if I want to shake hands
if I want to breathe their air
I’d have to walk for months or more
travelling over many different lands

though we’re now cyber small
we’re often still travel big
the world’s been made massive
only money makes it a mall

The universe runs away
   it is still running away

can you imagine?

What’s already big
   and I mean BIG
is getting bigger by the second

Here on this dustbowl
in some insignificant suburb
in a minor post-colonial country
where real history is discounted
how can this hugeness,
this immense body of stars
flung from the loins of creation
like so many journeys of discovery
their cosmological rites of passage
how can it be comprehended?
What are we if not lost?

We are a microbe on a needle
lost in a haystack of eternity

we wait
               to be found

the Earth is big/small
   we are big/small

the universe is big
   really big
      really, really big
you got that?
   you understand?
   big, big, big

BIG
bigger than the Beatles
bigger than CNN
bigger than the Olympics
bigger than the World Series
bigger than Mt. Everest
bigger than the ocean troughs
bigger than our blue-green pebble

its bigger than Texas
   just don’t tell the Texans!
Its now bigger than it was
   so massive in its dimensions!

trust me, it's really fucking big
