Jigsaw Analysis

A jigsaw is a handy metaphor for me,
I’ve got pieces that don’t quite fit
where I want them to.

No matter how hard you try
the sharp edged piece evades placement
curved pieces remain unwelcoming
to attempts to put them into place

Some bits are simply missing
leaving gasping holes of ugliness,
the whole is always incomplete
while other inappropriate pieces
fit neatly into undesigned places
deceiving the hands of the blind

even if you finish the jigsaw
with each bit fitting a picture
you must find another to begin
further exercises of the cardboard mind,
searching for something to learn.
