Lucky Call

Fifth time lucky
finally got you
yet your voice isn’t enough
none of those women walking by me is you
I cannot share the joke
and would they speak to me anyway
You sound so tired and distant
   that makes two of us

I imagine the dreamy, happy look on your face
much warmer than the cold greyness
the concrete glamour surrounding me
I hope I see you in the morning
a crisp Adelaide morning greeting
I’m glad I got fifth time lucky
