Mountains

Loneliness is
    a mountain
climb it
treading carefully
the well-worn paths of others

don’t look down,
into depression, the deep depths
beckoning in siren song
"jump in, jump in, jump in!"

NO
If you fall into the ravine, don’t flail around
in the river, swim to the shores of friendship,
force an effort from
yourself, for yourself, for
someone else - you can live
with Loneliness.

Live life, don’t watch it, or
you’ll go stale, pale
this insignificant shadow is not you

In the cold waters of the moat,
It, a creation of solitude, slowly stalks
all those lost souls, all in sorrow
frozen in uncertainty
or drifting aimlessly,
certain to be cold in their Loneliness

cold, so cold, untouched by
the warming hand of friendship
too late?
never too late

Slowly, as I'm about to go under
The word creeps forth
         friend
                    sometimes
I dare to designate
you
with this moniker
my hopes distill pure,
It is now vapor,
lke the fears that fed it.

a word is freed,
welcomed without condition
no mission
no attempt to mold
an exchange
an interaction

a word to choke on
anxiousness lurks always,
its petty poison
smothering a simple word

will you climb with me,
friend?
