more informally, Right
into the books of infamy

how he looked into the mirror,
through different eyes, he saw
his wife his kids his dog

Safe from the death squads,
his carefully taught torture
bringing a nice salary, nice car,
nice house, feeling of security,
National Security

The ghost of national interest
haunting in its schizophrenia
the real sickness of society
where paternal care and paternalism
mingle seperate in the mind

Spooked in the mental gymnastics
caring a criminal offence to reason
why?

the kids never ask
Daddy does important work
he’s a teacher of great standing

He’s in great demand
by those who bare the bones
of freedom, sacrificed for
democracy South of the Border style
to be held in captivity without trial

held in the backyard, are just charades

He is a good man, honest,
