Starfield

a thousand burning fires
greeting us, clearer
in the middle of nowhere
what I felt
unaware, insecure
nearer to you was still
        too far away

naive, I was
lost paradise already fading
the brightness - of stars
dulling my senses mute,
my soul always sole in its turmoil

no supernovas tonight,
no shooting stars,
only those spinning, never landing

      like the stars
we were on the way
    to entropy
me and you, through
I looked to darker skies,

you relaunched,
another mission to the stars
always burning brightly
your affection already light
       years away, now

I was flying still grounded
stuck here on earth
           fired by you
           cooled by you
           created by you
           destroyed by you
I realize
the stars weren’t in your eyes
no, now
its as clear as farmyard starlight
                  ever burning inside
then-there
here-now
where-always
I will bathe in the splendour
of stars
and maybe another light
will drown memory in time.
