waiting for rescue

I dive into you
a pool of emotion
lovely in its warmth
conscious in your depth of feeling,
you surround me, liquid
   all over me
currents of caring
swirling in a lake of lust,
I struggle only against myself

shall I swim to the surface?

The mermaids have me
drowning of my own free will
   a past dies
the oxygen of doubt cut off

what is the next life?

Now I am as a boat on your ocean
the expanses are multiplied
as we begin our exploration…
there is no end in sight,
for while your storms beset me -
your waves crashing on my hull -
I remain afloat, still sailing
on a journey of discovery
