We live on the middle, east coast of Florida in a rapidly developing area known as the Treasure Coast which is just north of the most densely populated counties, Palm Beach and Dade.
Because we are situated at the intersection of sub-tropical climatic zones, we've an unusual mix of ecosystems and as everywhere in the state, all the native habitats are at risk from increasing human impact.
Our plan here is to present a portrait of The Native Communities of our region (Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties)- which we refer to as the real GEMS of the TREASURE COAST. We'll feature their unique beauty, their crucial role in preserving habitat and threatened and endangered plants and wildlife and their importance as both a resource for nature lovers to experience and in preserving our air, water and quality of life.
