Roses Running Page

Hi, my name is Maria "Rose" Fabris.  I started running August 21, 1994 on my 45th brithday. When I started to run I only dreamed of running a marathon, and Boston Marathon was only a fantasy.   On  December 5, 1999 my fantasy became a reality, I finally qualified for the Boston Marathon!!!!

My 1st marathon was the Whiskey Row Marathon in Prescott. It is considered one of the most difficult marathons in the USA.  We started at 5,000 ft run up to 7,000 ft and back down to 5,000 ft at the 13 mile turn around, then back up to 7,000 and down to 5,000 at the finish line. I had stomach  problems (had to hit he bushes every mile marker) but I  still managed to  finished in 5:06:57. Will never forget my 1st marathon.
2nd marathon was the Tucson Marathon. I improved coming in  at 4:04:52 missed  Boston by 9 minutes 52 seconds ....Maybe next year
:-(
December 5,1999 at the Tucson Marthon, after 5 years of hard training and pleanty of support from my husband (Alex) and family members I finally qualified for Boston Marathon at the age of 50, with a time of 3:52:40!! Watch out Boston Here I Come!!!

The hardest part now is I need $2,500.00 to get there.   Wish me good luck.....
