Hat Sai Yai Farm
The Hat Sai Yai Farm, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, began operations in the year 1965 on a plot of His Majesty the King's own land, which he had graciously commanded to be established as an experimental farm so that various means of raising of livestock and poultry and the growing of cash crops on arid and sandy soil could be tried out.
During the earlier years of operations, The Hat Sai Yai Farm, cultivated many varieties of tamarind and cashew-nut trees in oder to study the relationship between moisture of the soil and the required amount of fertilizers. Later on, kitchen garden crops and field plants, such as pineapples, corn and mulberry bushes were grown in demonstration plots as example to farmers for cultivation in similarly arid and sandy soil.
While His Majesty the King resides at Klai Kangwol Palace, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, in order to visit the people in this and other nearby provinces, he regularly looks in on the Hat Sai Yai Farm operations. The raising of such livestock as cattle, pigs, goats, sheep and poultry at the farm are done on a scale so that their offspring could be distributed to farmers in the vicinity.
On May 16, 1971 His Majesty the King graciously granted an audience, at Hat Sai Yai Farm, to representatives of agricultural products suppliers who presented him with vegetable, which will be cultivated at Hat Sai Yai Farm as well as distributed to villagers in other parts of the country.
