Many owl species feed almost exclusively on small mammals. Many of the
smaller owls especially those from warmer climates specialise in catching
insects. While at the other extreme, Eagle Owls have been known to tackle
prey the size of a small deer.
A fearless hunter, the Great Horned Owl will take large and active prey
animals. This one has captured a rabbit.
Fish Owls and Fishing Owls, as their names relate, capture fish. Tawny
Owls eat rabbits. Screech Owls catch frogs. Lemmings form an important
part of the diet of young Snowy Owls.

On the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean the island owls feed almost
exclusively on storm petrels. And reptiles form an important part of the
diet of many owl species, especially those from the tropics.
