Giant Panda


Scientific Name-Ailuropoda melanoleuca

Description- Pandas have unique black and white fur. The male weighs around 180kg and stands from 1.2 to 1.7m tall. These animals eat berries, flowers, bird's eggs, bamboo, fruits, grasses and bark.

Habitat-Lives a solitary life in mountain forest areas.

Geographic Distribution-south-western China.

Threat-Hunted for its fur, caught in traps, loss of bamboo with increased human uses.

Rhinoceros

Scientific Name-Diceros bicornis

Description- Species dates back to around 44 million years ago. There are four main types: Black, White, Asiatic and Sumatrian. The animal's height ranges from 1.4m to 1.8 m, and they can weigh up to 80 tonnes.

Habitat
-Dry grasslands and woodlands.

Geographic Distribution-Small areas in northern and southern Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

Threat-Poaching for horns.

Grizzly Bear

Scientific Name-Ursus arctos

Description-
Range in size from 7 to 8 feet long, and weigh between 80 and 780 pounds. Digs its own shelter during the autumn months in preparation for hibernation.

Habitat-Lives in wilderness areas.

Geographic Distribution-Found in the wild only in Canada and Alaska, and in parks and reserves in America.

Threat-Hunted for its fur or as a food source.
