Greetings!
I got a call from rosi and Jim last night. They
made it to Port Antonio, Jamaica. They are taking
a bit of a break from the crossing. They made
record time again with the wind at their backs.
Average speed was over 140nm per day and one day
they made 163nm (a new record). They had strong
winds and always had small sails up, but they must
have had a great current.
Anyway, they will spend another two days in Port
Antonio before moving to Montego Bay at the west
end of the island. They plan to be in Montego Bay
through the weekend. They have scrapped plans for
Cozumel and may make a stop in Grand Cayman before
heading to Louisiana. They figure that this last
leg of the trip should take 7-10days and they plan
to arrive in Lake Pontchatrain the week after
Mardis Gras (that's the week of the 12th March).
It sounded like Rosi will be staying down here for
a while to work on Libelle and get situated while
Jim goes back to Madison and gets ready for April
Fool's day. :-)
They sounded really happy to be in Jamaica and
they were enjoying the beautiful view of the Blue
Mountains.
They are trying to find a place to get email
access, but they don't have too much hope for
that. So you can try to send them email if you
like, but there are no guarentees that they will
actually see it.
Glad to hear they are safe and sound.
Alles Gouda,
Yvonne
