Greetings!
Had a nice weekend with Jim and Rosi. They are at
the municipal marina in Gulfport - in the shadow
of several enormous casinos. They had a
relatively good passage from Jamaica. Some
problems with the throttle as I mentioned before,
but they were able to get this fixed on Friday
before we arrived. They also had more problems
with the furling genoa. They had this sail
patched in the Canaries, but they developed a
substantial rip in it some time in the Yucatan
channel. Fortunately, they had the spare genoa
that Gerhard sent to them while they were in the
Canaries. The old genoa looks like its not worth
repairing - the material seems to be pretty
weakened after a year at sea.
We motor sailed out to Ship Island (barrier
island) on Sunday and found a nice stringer of
balloons which must have come loose from a wedding
or Mardis Gras float. They made the boat look
very festive.
I also brought along hard copies of all the unread
emails and Rosi and Jim had a great time pouring
over them on Friday evening. They will probably
remain in Gulfport until Tuesday when they'll move
into Lake Pontchatrain. I still haven't gotten a
firm answer of when Jim will return to Madison,
but I suppose it will be before April 1st. Rosi
will remain down here with Libelle until the
weather becomes too uncomfortable.
That's all for now
Alles Gouda,
Yvonne
