yesterday summer weather arrived in Cornucopia. we sailed PH out of Siskiwit
Bay for her very first time of the year. she performes well in the light
wind with her "brandy-new" mainsail thanks to service from Tim's sailloft
after a glitch on the slides by northsail toronto. despite the warm air,
th forrests looked more like winter, since the trees are completely denuded
by the forrest catarpillars also known as "army worms" here.
unfortunately it was a short summer as we put on the long underwear today
after a cold rain with lake water temperatures of less than 50 F. this has
been a big transition for us since louisianna, but we got an ausfuehrlicher
report of the first tropical storm and its effect on beau chene from
marilyn of queens barge 2. libelle faired well with jerry checking her
lines. yvonne has since done engine run and head flush. we're looking
forward to visiting with madison friends next weekend as the Scheepshead
Bonders have chartered an S2 center cockpit out of prt superior and rosi
plans to sail with dave and pat on Doris E . then she will travel back to
madison: freut sich auf stay with Bill and Marilyn. seeing friends, playing
with payden and saylor as yvonne is doing a fly-in. rosi will return to PH
with marcus and vacationing family on sat. 30 june. still planning to cruise
thru sault ste. marie in july. thanks for all the responses to our last
