southshore of lake superior. here are some impressions from the points along the way:lower entry
keweenaw waterway, nice visit in hot sun with rosi's former patient's wife and sister. unexpected
chance rendevous with Chip Ahoy, cindy and scot, who we first met in jamaica. as he likes to say the
world keeps getting smaller. huron bay, solitary anchorage with eagles nest above sand beach, cold
dip. long easy downwind sail to marquette, beautifully restored brick and brownstone architechture,
fantastic library and great parks, watched the ensign fleet wed. nite race. unto munising area, skipped
the town and achored at grand island, huge hemlocks, quiet bays and we learned the hard way that
native fresh water mussels are not edible. thought of marcia jahn on the biketrails. next leg pictured
rocks in quiet water by motor , like the postcards with waterfall, white sand beaches, caves and
towering rock formations. after point au sable, the largest dunes we have ever seen above the 10 mile
beach. anchored in grand marais mich. to wait out 3 rainy days, churchbells, laughing loons and a
great brewpub to watch the weather channel with kayakers from around the world, who gathered for
and upcoming symposium. batchawana bay, long approach to gitchigumi marina , achored outside
shallow channel inb the haviland bay. towering hills funneled warm strong winds. trading post looked
like somthing from the set of norther exposure. south to the locks we did not see any of the famous
hazzards of whitfish bay because of fog.new canadian locks with out a hitch as the lakers-oreboats and
tankers use the US locks. now its downriver to the northchannel. thanks for continuing to e-mail news
