dear friends, we've often read about sea-biscuits,but first had the opportunity to buy genuine hardtack from st. john's newfoundland at the supermarket in marathon. we soon discovered it is difficult to tell from the tofu while floating in rosi's homemade hot and sour soup. picking them out is good exercise for the eyeball navigation into rockstrewn entrys of the small coves in the fog. sometimes we feel like we are cruising maine without the salt- sometimes we feel like we are in the hamm's commercial with waterfalls framed by dark evergreens and deep blue skies. needless to say jim hasnt caught any fish, but we still have pickled herring from sams in wausau. after navigating up the michipicoten river with a guide in motorboat ahead, we are now anchored just outside bucks marina. upon arrival here rosi pointed to the shore and said: look, they even have cars on the road here! indeed we had not seen anything like that since marathon. still hearing and seeing lots of loons.thanks for the message snowday and tao, good luck bidding matt, happy birthday george noble in boulder junction. if we do not hear from any of you at buck's (705) 856-4488 or (877) 273-3319 we are out of here with the next north wind. expect to return to apostles via UP mich. before labour day. ALLES GOUDA jim and rosi diese botschaft wird wohl schwierig hier zu uebersetzen, vorlaeufig auf englisch rolf und hans-j. 1
