Hellooooo Out There!
I finally got some word from Libelle! Jim, Rosi
and Wolfgang have hooked up with a German marine
band net and I got position information from
Christoph in Muenster, Germany who monitors this
net (2300UTC at 8140 KHz).
Christoph gave the following position information:
They have made some really nice progress since
leaving the Azores on 21 June. Looks like they
have headed north and are now coming in from the
west. They are at approximately the correct
latitude for Royan, France and now they appear to
be heading due east. They are currently at 16
degrees longitude which is about due south of
Iceland. Royan is approximately at zero degees
longitude (the prime meridian). They planned to
make the trip in two weeks and it looks like maybe
they'll be right on schedule! :-)
At least the winds seem to be coming from the
right direction this time, but they look a little
too strong for my taste. I looked up the
descriptions of the Beaufort Scale on the web
(http://www.northcoastweb.com/nws/beaufort.html).
This is the description they give for Force 5 and
6:
I will try to find out if Christoph can pass along
any information to the crew.
Alles Gouda once again!
