Dear Friends:
A dip in the Folly River under the hull at noon proved that we
will need to have the boat hauled before we leave. There's "hairy
stuff" about four inches long growing on the prop even though the
diver cleaned the bottom about one month ago. Hence; we will be
moving to Ross Marine next weekend for scheduled haul-out on Mon. May
3.
Matt has been a great help with our projects and the Windpilot
installation is almost complete. Gernot was visiting with us last
Sat. when we had a great evening of crabbing off our finger dock - 9
blues and one stone crab. We only took one of the claws off the
stone and threw him back. Of course that same crab later got tangeled
in in the string we use to raise and lower the trap. Gernot was quite
good at getting the crabs out of the trap after I got a bloody finger
on the first one.
We continue to wish each of you ALLES GUTE von LIBELLE.
We just had a major breakthrough aboard Libelle this morning.
Peter had good copy with a "Wally", a ham friend of Stan and Sue, in
Kenosha and Wally could hear us. Our first successful transmission on
the SSB! Wally has agreed to monitor his radio each day and will
forward our position and brief messages to Vonnie on the days when
"propagation" allows us to communicate. Unfortunately we could not
talk to Paul on Herz II in Savanna one hour later.
