Greetings!
I just got this email from Jim!
Thurs., Dec 9 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife
HOLIDAY GREETINGS to all from
the Canarias. We arrived here on Tues from
Taliarte, Grand Canaria.
Despite a rainy night (Mon) rafted up to fishing
boat and a delayed 0400
departure, we had a lovely 12 hour downwind sail.
We especially enjoyed the
enlarging view of the spectacular, green mountains
as we approached Tenerife
from the East. Rumor has it that there is snow on
top of the Pico de Teide
in the center of the island, which is frequently
enshrouded in clouds, but
people are swimming on the warm sunny beaches on
the coasts. Libelle is
tied up "stern-to" the pontoon on a harbor wall
right downtown in a very
alive city, that has beautiful decorations for the
Fiesta de Novidad.
We're getting in the spirit as we had hot roasted
chestnuts from a street vendor
last night. We will probably rent a car to tour
the island during our
visit with Payden, Nola and Matt, who arrive on
Sat. If things look good for
sailing with them, we may move to San Sebastian de
la Gomera next week.
We also look forward to the arrival of Yvonne &
Charles who will join us
for the transit to the Caribbean (destination to
be determined: Trinidad,
Grenada or Barbados. departure with weather window
after the 20th). That means we
are hoping to celebrate the millenium at sea. We
would love to hear from
any of you - Will check the mail at
libelle91@hotmail.com every few days
while in port. Supposedly the Marina office (been
closed for holiday) also
has a Fax 922 60 54 81. We will continue to listen
for Herz II on 12353 at
2200 UTC on Sat. nights. As always, ALLES GOUDA!
Rosi and Jim
and Yvonne too!
