Quote from email of 14 May 99:

In case you don't know the story, "Alles Gouda" was one of the names considered for the boat. It's a clever (?) pun. Rosi wanted a Dutch name for the boat since the boat is manufactured in the Netherlands. In German "Alles Gute" is a nice phrase commonly used at the end of a letter and means something like "all the best" or "wishing you all the best". So we put together the German phrase and the Dutch cheese to form "Alles Gouda" (pronounced: Ah-less GOO-dah), which, perhaps on some distant planets may mean something like "everything's cheese"....?? ;-) Y. 1
