BIAB will also generate harmonies if you want. i usually don't. channel 4 is the only channel set up for recording. so if you mute channel 4 you can hear the generated accompaniment alone. often i record only a single note melody on every other chorus, producing a workable piece in 20 min. a piece that doesn't need any more editing for just sitting in my living room jamming on the mandolin. when i get more ambitious i'll midi over to cakewalk & do some serious editing. for a fuller effect, as in this sequence, i start by recording a bass line for intro & first chorus, & saving with the "copy 1st chorus to rest of song" option. then i erase that part from one or two choruses. then i add various parts for each chorus, usually recording one chorus at a time, several takes, all overdubbed on same track, same voice. on every other chorus i usually leave out the melody so that i can rock out on the mandolin. these "solo" choruses usually have my bass and/or harmony line but may just feature BIAB's fine work. unsolicited unpaid testimonial from __________ dbut | | | X X | | ______ | | U | |__________|
