Fiona

Hi - I'm a flake who likes cats. I'm British, 33 and married to Dale ( a dishy, but grumpy Canadian) and have a 13 year old stepson called Brendan.

Brendan is a great kid and he likes hockey and country and western music. I tried to persuade him from the error of his ways but there you go - he will insist on listening to Leanne Rimes and Paul Brandt CDs.

I was born in Cornwall, UK in 1964 and moved to Saskatchewan in 1987 to take a masters degree in English which I flunked a long time ago.

I have worked as a barmaid, chambermaid, waittress, telemarketer, data entry operator, freelance writer, communications consultant and computer support person.

I have written two history books:

  1. A History of Worker's Compensation in Saskatchewan.
  2. The Urban Age: Finding a Place for Urban Government in Saskatchewan.
Both these books are kinda boring.

I have had the following poems published:

  1. The Burial Mound won a diploma in the 1993 Scottish Internationl Open Poetry Competition.
  2. The Venus of Willendorf was published in the 1996 Spring edition of Contemporary Verse 2
  3. Throw Away Women was also published in that edition.
  4. Valentine's Day was published in the Fall 1996 edition of Undertow.
My parents - Betty and Jim - are golf fiends and have huge IQs and like to argue when cooking vegetarian meals.

I have two brothers - Iain and Hamish. Iain is 34 or something and lives in NZ and does some kind of corporate consulting and earns enough money to make term deposits (I'm still not sure what they are).

Hamish is 30 or so and lives in Sydney Australia and has some kind of major computer job and has an expense account and a company car.
Both my brothers are really cool people.

    I think I want to be a writer - I'm not sure.

Thanks for coming to my web page - please email me with comments, ideas, rants etc.
