Haribon Youth is composed of the different school-based chapters of Haribon Foundation, Philippines. At present there are chapters in UP Diliman, UP Los Banos, UP Manila, Miriam College, CLSU, PUP, and the University of Santo Tomas. Haribon Youth works independently on its own set of projects but within the framework of the goals and principles of its mother organization. Highlighted in its activities is the fact that they (the youth) would be the future guardians of this earth and so they continue the struggle of conserving it for other generations to enjoy its beauty and splendor. Activities: (April 22) Haribon Youth held an overnight
vigil for Mother Earth in celebration of Earth Day '97. Students and alumnis of Haribon UP Diliman, UP Los Banos, Miriam College and UST as well as some representatives from Haribon National and some walk-ins participated in the activities. The group listened to invited speakers, had group discussions, played games and lit candles as they showed their care and commitment to save the only planet they have.
(April 26)15 youth members from Haribon-UST, UP Diliman and UP Los Banos spearheaded a clean-up climb of Mt. Makiling in Los Banos, Laguna. Bringing with them trash bags and sacks the group put together leisure and work as they hiked through the rainforest of Mt. Makiling. Reaching peak 2, they started picking up the garbage left by hikers before them. Another one is in the planning stage. The group plans to bring more participants and better strategies in preserving the beauty of this mountain.
(November 1997)In celebration of Haribon Foundation's 25th anniversary, Haribon-Youth organized photo exhibits in each of their respective campus. They also joined PALIKSIHAN '97 at San Beda College and the Commemorative Night last November 28 at the U.P. Balay Kalinaw.
