SPEAK OUT TO MAKE KING STREET MORE LIVABLE
VDOT will hold a "Community Information Meeting" on its "King St (Route 7)
Corridor Feasibility Study", Tuesday, April 6, 1999, 4:30 PM-8:00 PM, in
the Minnie Howard School auditorium, 3801 Braddock Rd, Alexandria.
You are invited to learn about and comment on VDOT's new study to "identify and analyze potential alternative concepts to address concerns relating to traffic congestion along King Street in the Beauregard St and Walter Reed Dr area", along the Alexandria/Arlington border. The public will be informed "about the beginning of the technical tasks to be conducted for this feasibility study", "about the Project Working Group which will participate in the study", and about future public involvement opportunities. Citizens are encouraged to express "concerns and issues associated with this study area."
Ask that the study seek to enhance nearby communities by *reducing* traffic through better transit service--including light rail transit--and by designing a better environment for walking and bicycling, not by building wider and faster roads that encourage more driving and hinder all other travel modes. For more information, call Mr. Steven W. Hicks at 703-338-2321. (VDOT Project Number: 0007-1-F04,PE-101). Jim Wamsley 703-751-6086.

WEST*GROUP REZONING APPLICATION HEARING FOR EVANS FARM
Fairfax County Government Center
The West*Group Development Corporation has requested a residential zoning density increase from R-3 to PDH-8. This develpment is counter to the principles of Smart Growth, since it is an area that is currently used as a park, is not on a
mass transit corridor, and discourages non-automobile transportation alternatives.
Please come to the hearing prepared to speak out against the increased zoning density
for this land parcel. Call the Planning Commission at 703-324-2865 to get added to the list of speakers.
