What is Going to Happen to Bronte Provincial
Park
Originally the eastern half of Bronte Provincial
Park was supposed to be developed into 400 campsites, plus cabins, a natural
history museum, fishing centre, and more. However, recent information has shown
that the town of Oakville has been pushing for the sale of the eastern half
of the park to the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) to be developed into
large scale golfing operation, named Golf Canada Village which would include::
-
18-hole championship stadium course and club
house similar to Glen Abbey
-
a second 18-hole public golf course
-
and a future links 9-hole golf course
-
conference centre
-
hotel
- golf course hall of fame
-
headquaters for the regional RCGA offices
-
a major golf academy operation which would
be the RCGA regional training centre and includes a practice facility
-
possible home for the Provincial Golf Association
-
host to the Canadian Open and other tournaments
on a rotating basis
-
additional lands for possible additional
golf courses
-
possible residential and commerical development
In addition there are many other possible spin-off developments
in the area including:
-
residential development
- commercial develpment
- other accommodation/resort facilities
